    need advice??

Had a large mature whitetail come in today and I have never had a large buck come in. I wasn't shaky or anything fairly calm. He must of been around 15 yards I drew and put my pin right behind his front shoulder and squeezed the trigger right over his back he ran out bout thirty yards and stood there for a second then just walked off. I haven't shot a large buck yet with my bow that was my chance I've also never missed completely with my bow. With the risk of sounding like a wuss I'm down kinda depressed not sure what to do. Just wondering how I can get past this any advice or stories would be greatly appreciated. And also if he didn't get hit and just walked off will he return?

My first thought is you had tunel vision and did not see / realize he ducked the arrow.....

This ..... and did you notice if his head was down or up when you touched off. Usually, when the duck the arrow when they're head is down feeding or something. The shot startles them and the hunch down in order to jump and run. If they're head is up, the tend to look around to locate the noise. Just some rules of thumb.

All that said, you might have just missed. Especially if you were shooting from an elevated stand and not accustomed to it. I always like to take a target out (pre-season) and take a few shots from the stand just to get an idea.

            I missed a deer at 40 yards once...with a rifle! It happens.

Better to miss than wound and never recover!
