I am hoping someone has a simple solution to clearing corroded alkaline batteries from a flashlight. I have a Maglite D-cell LED flashlight that takes 3 D batteries. Checked the light today and it is working. I decided to open the end cap and noticed a lot of corrosion around the spring and bottom battery. I tapped/banged around the side of the flashlight to try and jar the batteries loose so I could remove them, but the batteries did not move. I used some carbonated canned soda and a small tool to remove all of the visible corrosion at the base of the bottom facing battery, but still the batteries failed to drop free. I turned the flashlight upside down, and sprayed some Corrosion-X around the bottom battery thinking it would seep down a little bit and loosen up any remaining corrosion. Let it soak for awhile, turned the light over and beat on the exterior of the light some more, but still no movement of the batteries.
The flashlight is a good light, and I hate to just throw it away, so has anyone experienced the same thing, and do you have a simple solution I have not thought of. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
