I think I read in a post after that he had already used his buck tag.

I hunt a large open range place , a river bottom small Lf place, and a HF place. The big uns are tough regardless where they are at and in many ways are about how you condition them. My dad drives down into the bottom and honks his horn and the deer nearly break their necks running into his ranger, on the HF place, you rarely see a deer from a vehicle because I want them as wild as possible. The large open range place is somewhere in between. In my experience there are times when all deer are vulnerable, early in bow season while their still in the summer pattern and in the rut. I have taken several large deer and they have all been during these 2 periods. IMHO a book quality whitetail is one of the most incredible trophies in the world. Like all book animals they are truly freaks of nature and are extraordinary creatures. It takes the perfect combination of genetics, groceries and time to get even a chance at making it to that size. I personally think the entire"net" concept is flawed but it is what it is. They make the rules , and they are not very flexible. I was lucky enough to take one with my bow several years ago and if you read the thread "King Ranch 201 2/8" you can see the buck. You can also see the varying views of the brotherhood on such an animal. My sense is that more are shot by TBH'ers than are posted for obvious reasons. In my case , it was not a look at me scenario but rather a look at him posted by someone else. In my years of hunting a HF place I have not seen a deer that matches this one in score but I have had several that have really tested my skills and patience. I am happy to say I have a bunch of fun hunting all of these places. I pray you all have a wonderful and safe deer season. It is one of the great liberties for which I am most thankful. God bless and shoot straight.

those places/deer do exist. but many of those ranches and hunts are in very close circles you don't hear about them

not every big deer that gets shot gets plastered over forums and social media/magazines
Unfortunately hers will never make the book because of the fence. I think the ranch managers main job is to find her a big buck and they are very good at their job. Plus she has a lot of land to find a big buck. Her and her family always shoot a good deer. They are patient and let them grow.

This is my first Kansas buck. He has 14 inch G2's. I still need to get him officially measured, (cant measure my own), but he would bust 180 if he was not missing his G1..... I have him at 169+ net which that would put him in B&C.

I think you need to further seperate the ranches from those that raise and release the bucks into "the ranch"? I have seen them raised on a pen till 3 yrs old then released.

Because all I had was a doe tag, already killed my buck that year.
