It's not as big as you might think it is. This is the lungs and heart a mature doe I just shot. Pocket Knife for reference. The Shwacker did the job. Quick!!!
Lungs are much larger when inflated--but you definitely let the air out of them. I did a "double-bubble" hit on a buck yesterday with a Bear Razorhead--went about 75 yds and left less than a half-cup of blood--but you know what I found in the chest cavity--all those tiny vessels in the lungs can pour it out.
