    Day hunt question

I finish this semester early and will be done the weekend before Thanksgiving. My son is constantly asking me when we can go hunting. He is 9 and before we moved to Texas we had a nice setup in Mississippi where I am from. Since moving here it has been too hectic/expensive with 3 kids in sports, my wife and I working full time (she used to stay home with kids) and I am in graduate school. I am looking for somewhere to take him to gun hunt for mainly deer and possibly hogs. Can anyone suggest any ranch/day lease within 1-1.5 hours from The woodlands/Houston? I have not had the time that I used to to devote to a lease etc, but want to get him out in the woods and away from the x-box and ipad.
    Thanks in advance!!

Sorry, I don't know of any day hunts that would work. Very few operate close to Houston. Use caution and check with someone who has been before spending. Some scams out there.

Can't help with the hunt part, but congratulations on the sacrifice to continue your education.

Until you can find a reputiable guide for a day hunt, I'd recommend getting the APH ($48 permit) and hunt Sam Houston National Forest.

You'll need your license and permit, and you kiddo will need the $7 youth license.

Here is the pdf map of the area

Here is the info on the APH

Isn't it bowhunt only? He isn't proficient enough with bow yet
