    Ghosts!

I, like some of you, arent seeing bucks anymore. Three weeks ago, I was seeing six or seven bucks at a time. Nice ones. I think they have that sense of what time of year it is. Females become more important than food. I think they can remember "last year at this time, uncle joe and i went to our normal spot to snack on some corn. we heard a big boom and uncle joe fell down and didnt come home with me."
I hope they start moving around a little more pretty soon.

Deer have a rather short memory, however they do recognize that people are starting to get out in the woods. They naturally tend to stay away from people and the noise they make (such as slamming doors etc.). This time of the year also trees start to drop their acorns and deer love acorns much more than corn. A lot of deer also are in the nocturnal mode at the present time, as they are not in the rut yet. There are a number of things that tend to make them less visible but that will start to change pretty quickly. Don't get discouraged, just get out there and be ready when their mood changes over to chasing does.
