On a big money tourney, it is not just common, it is very normal and necessary. Yes, I have been involved in tournaments that have had people fail the test.

I guess the golfer in me does not understand blatant cheating in order to win.
I know people cheat, but you would like to think people are honest in competition. Thanks for the responses.

Not only do they ask you questions about "if you caught the fish" but they ask things such as "were you wearing your engine kill switch at all times the outboard motor was running", "did you at any time use more than one fishing pole at a time", "did you alter the fish's weight", "what time did you start fishing"...those kinds of things.

I have not heard of any body really getting busted on big fish tournaments but they do have the option to give you one if they feel ,it just keeps honest people honest.good luck

Agreed. I'd just say screw it. Wouldn't be fun for me anymore.

I remember someone getting DQ'd in the KYKX tourney in Longview a buncha years ago.

I think they X-rayed the fish and found a few weights in the belly.

The next year they started polygraphing the winners.

theres been several people fail the polygragh test this yr. alone in the Star Tournament. I think some of them catch a tagged redfish who are not entered in the tournament, and run down and enter it right quick, and then try to pass the test. I don't know this sure, but 50k worth of new truck and boat is real tempting to some people. Like stated above, theres lots of rules in these tournaments, and I bet they are going to ask about everyone of them to make sure they were followed.
