Renting a camper

Anybody have any experience with any camper rental places in the McKinney/North Texas area? Needing one for Thanksgiving weekend...

Not in the north Texas area, but do have experience renting campers. First, be VERY careful! There are some shady companies out there. It seems as though many of the campers available for rent are actually consignment rentals for 3rd party private owners. In one case we didn't have any problems other than being a little paranoid about being sure the camper was perfectly clean to get our deposit ($700) back. The second time around was when we had the issue. After completing the reservation, the owner of the camper emailed and said the company had not paid her for the previous rentals and they had cancelled the consignment contract with the company. The dang camper wasn't even available and they were taking deposits! We cancelled our reservation and the company refused to return the deposit. Had to take it up with my credit card company and they got our money back after the camper owner sent them a letter on our behalf that the rental company was fraudulently taking reservations for equipment they didn't have a contract for.

I think if you go through Camping World you'll be okay but just do your due diligence, because the commonly that almost ripped us off was a well known large RV company at the time.

Been many years ago but I rented one from the place in Mckinney on the east side of 75 (at that time think it was called longhorn). Just so happened I got a deal on a popup that week and bought it. Already had a deposit at the rental place so was not going to back out of it and went to pick it up for the weekend. Was nasty. Not at all what we agreed upon and they gave some excuse as to the condition and how the one I thought I rented out was taken. It was so bad I said to hell with it and still had to fight to get my deposit back. Will never do business with that place again.
