FYI if you are in Polk county like your profile says, dogs are illegal. Good luck with the search.

Good luck finding him this morning.

Please don't take this the wrong way. A quartering to shot sometimes works and many times doesn't. To easy to get hung up in the shoulder and not get penetration or a little to far back and get 1 lung or guts. The 1 lung/gut shot deer can go a long way and a long time after the shot. Especially if you tried too soon to track after the shot.

In awaiting the LDP of that bad boy!!

Can't him and a friend take a casual walk in the woods with their dog during deer season? Without any weapons of course...

Good luck this morning, I hope you find him. A few years ago I shot a buck on a lease near Junction. I looked for him for HOURS. Combed the area on foot and 4 wheeler. Blood stopped at 80-100yds out. The next morning I looked again and he was maybe 100-150yds away right in the middle of a patch of brush. ( he had turned after I lost blood ) At night I had walked right by him several times, but I couldnt see him because of the thick brush and the shadows a flashlight creates.

Good luck out there. At that angle the crease behind the shoulder gets one lung at best, liver and center paunch. That means dead deer.....eventually.

Polk is absolutely legal to track with a dog.

                                Here are restricted counties:

Angelina, Hardin, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby and Tyler counties.
