Too late to set up in a hotspot?

    Hey guys,

I've hunted two weekends so far this year in my spot. I've also gotten some good bucks coming in the the place I want to hunt really hard. Problem is, I have no stand there. I think this weekend I can get down to the land (my lady has to work, so no dog house), put up a stand, set up my camera*, clear some brush, and put out some corn. My question is, if I do that, am I ruining the place for the next couple of weeks?

I've never put up a stand mid-season before, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not.

    * - I don't know if anyone saw it, but I was having issues with my game cam after the first pull this year. Found out why. I swapped out the 128mb card (older than oak trees) for an 8gb card so I could leave it for a long time. Turns out, the camera is so old that it can't recognize a card with that much capacity, and it was dumping photos to the internal memory. Gah.

Go for it! Set it up and stay out till you get the right wind. By then the deer will be used to it and you should be good. We just shredded about 100 acres of cotton for insurance reasons here in scurry county, and it had deer all over it within hours of the tractors leaving.

I've had success moving a stand mid season. Hang a stand and then let your camera tell you whether you need to hunt that spot or not.

I've done it before. They will find it and get used to it quick.

I bet you'll be good. Nothing ventured nothing gained. And how many times have you read stories on here about deer coming in after a gun shot, or some other random disturbance?

If you don't do it you will always be second guessing yourself. Do it.

I move my stand around constantly with the changing conditions on public land. Would keep the clearing to a minimum. Go for it!

I wouldn't cut too much brush, just enough for a clear shooting lane. I have moved set ups(ladder stands, hang ons, even set a pop up) in the middle of season and shot deer the same day. My thoughts are make the move but disturb the location as little as possible.

Do it. I did two weeks ago and the next morning had deer at 16yds no problem. It was a hang on stand

I wouldn't give it a second thought. But like stated above, easy on the brush clearing

Solid. Going to do it, then. Making a list of the gear I'll need, stopping at the wally-world, and getting to it early. When I say 'cut some brush' what I really mean is just what some folks said - clearing the shooting lane. The spot is in a big oak with a shooting lane on one side and a creek bottom on the other. I need to clear one or two scrub trees to get to the creek bottom, but that's really it.

Its not too late until the day after the season closes!

Done it before and didn't have any issues. I had to move my ladder stand a week before the season because of a dead tree nearby. The deer didn't seam to mind at all.
