    Spray Deck vs. Stained Concrete

    School me please!

We are getting ready to do a patio extension and I signed up for stained concrete including him cleaning and staining my existing patio area.

The contractor is now trying to talk us into Spray Deck and we would get to chose what color we want. He says it will work better and look better.

What I want to know is will it actually be better for us or is it just cheaper for him since we've already agreed on a price?

    Thanks

Existing patio is about 6 years old and does have a few stains.

I'd go spray deck. Your old concrete and new concrete won't match and you would have to explain to everyone new that comes over what happened.

I thought about that and I'm good there, I guess the only question is should we be renegotiating the price? I want to know if the project is still worth what I am paying.

Stained concrete is cheaper to do, so if he's willing to do it for the same price your getting the better desl

Lots of issues with stained concrete but I guess it won't be high traffic so it will last a bit longer. I think spay deck is cooler on the feet but you have to be careful with the furniture. Make sure it has rubber feet or you can peel it up. I would go spray deck but not sure it could be anywhere near the as cheap as stain

In my opinion stained concrete needs to be in doors or at least a covered area, for it to look nice the concrete needs to have a hard trowel finish with a sealer or wax over it, this will become slick when wet. By going with spray deck your entire patio will match, the price between the two are very similar, I would go with spray deck, tile, stone or stamped overlay depending on how much you want to spend.
