How do you feel about no hunts so far?

I hate I can't go, but doing my dream job on weekends now when my son is off. Problem is, for several years now my TBH son has graciously footed the lease bill and a great place to stay. Even thou he and his fellow lease members have told me I can go anytime, it's just not right as I'm a tad bit old fashioned about these things and have been fortunate to go anywhere and everywhere I wanted in the "great" years. Yep, could not afford it for a while now.

Another thing I worry about is my ever getting older age. I used to get off shift, drive for 3 hours during the night and be ready for the break of dawn. I was strong enough to handle anything I harvested and in good health. Those days are long gone and needless to say the body is letting me down more and more each day.

So, with all that said, I've made my plan for next season. My goal is to sell so many home site acreage I can afford my own place to hunt less than an hour from base. At least that's my goal....Lord how I yearn to see the sun rise and set with "critters" all around.

So the REAL meaning of this thread is: Enjoy while you can my young/old GS friends. Never take any of your blessings for granted.....and have a GREAT next hunt! I'll be out there with you next year

Getting your own place is great. Sure you can pull it off in one year? Just the same, more power to you as you pursue your goal. Get yourself a little honey hole, find a good crossbow and get after it. I am pulling for you.

Planning on leasing and not buying. THAT will take a few years but I've got a partner/GF who wants the same thing if we continue to have the relationship we have now. Thanks for the response....I needed that right now!

The truth is, there are a lot of us pulling for you. You probably don't know how many friends you have that you haven't physically met yet.

I'm 600 miles from my home in East Texas. I won't be hunting til November 15th. I can't remember ever missing opening weekend of bow and gun season. I hope your goals become a reality. Good luck

I am pulling for you to. I am having to sit out the best parts of this season due to a texter running me over. I have realized what all I have taken for granite since not being able to walk and having to depend on other people for help. Fortunately the company I work for has kept me working thru this humbling time. This year is the first year that I haven't been in a tree opening morning but that's fine with me. I will be on the bench with you. I hope your plans work out exactly how you want them to. That buck will be that much bigger next year anyway

I laid off this year also and I am starting to miss it. I do plan taking sime freezer meat with my rifle next month, but its not the same as sitting in a tree with a bow!

Hope it works out for you next year.

I used to hunt almost every day as guide in south Texas for the last 15 years. I haven't made a sit yet since moving to the big city and I'm going crazy. But starting this weekend I'm hunting somewhere every weekend but 1 till Christmas! Fixing to be on!

Kuma, I understand. I got 6.5 days in last year with some help on a few of those days. And just a cuple of days in the year before. Not sure if I'll get any in this year.

Hope ya close on a bunch of those properties. Or get your listings closed for you .

Oh man, love you all and I am a MANLY MAN, lol! Just finished responding to clients and time to relax and eat even at this late hour...at least for OLD guys. I'm too DAM old for this, but it's so nice! Kuma has had his dinner, now time for the old man.
Thanks for the support, just trying to get it all in perspective, so this should help others new to TBH understand how meaningful this site can be! Lot's of folks out there who can provide guidance, answers to questions and support.....don't take it for granted....good night all!

Sounds like a plan to me. Guy has to have goals at all stages of life to keep going.
