    Lunch Time Deer

I have not been hunting in a few years (3-4). I am ramping up over here. Got my normal three places slinging corn and it looks like opening day I will be at a good friends place in Victoria.

I am gonna pass on the first shooter I see and let my first time hunting girlfriend take it.

The area I will be hunting is getting pretty "domestic" as people are moving in near by and building houses.

My question to you guys is do you hunt your stands in the mid day.

Anyone take a deer at a feeder in the hours outside "normal" hunting hours.

    11-4 ?

You never know when one will step out. A lot of it has to do with the area though, some places the deer run like clockwork, others there is no schedule. If there is a lot of activity with the building and people moving in etc. I'd stay all day just because you never know when a truck or person walking their dog or something will bump a deer into your set up.

I haven't had much luck hunting feeders mid day, but I've killed a pile of them mid day in rut areas where bucks are cruising. Particularly on the down wind side of where does are known to bed.

When the night time has a bright moon most of the night, then yes, mid day can be effective. At very least, late morning or early afternoon.

Mid day on water can be killer action!

If I see a mature buck runnin a doe mid day and I'm not in the stand I grab my stuff and head for the woods. I've only killed 1 buck in the hours you mentioned. But if your not hunting all day during a good rut your missing out on some exciting opportunities.
If it's not during the rut I typically get out of my tree at 10-10:30 and back in at 2-3pm
