Taxidermy work looks good. That is a hoss of a buck. Did you ever score him? What's the story?

          Thanks again.

They were both taken in Shackelford County (Albany), it was the last weekend of the season. I was invited to hunt by a contractor that I was buying rock from in the area for a project up there. We actually ended up becoming very good friends and I hunted with them every year now. This was by far the best hunt that i have been on in a while if not the best period, not just because of the trophy's but because of the life long friends made that weekend and all the friends made up there since. Our familys have become close and vacation together when we can. They are the type of friends you can call anytime of day or night and they come running, no questions asked. Some of the very best people I know.

So I met him for lunch at the Beehive in Albany and he asked what I wanted to do that weekend, I told him if i could get a cat that would make my hunt, even if i didn't take a deer or see anything else. Sure enough he came through, I think he would rather varmint hunt than do anything else. So we had called about 20 minutes on the first set of the night, and got him to walk within 20 yards, pretty amazing. That was the only thing we called in that night, so I felt pretty lucky to get him.

I took the buck on the next evening, I saw quit a few deer that evening lot's of good young bucks and does. He walked out about thiry minutes before dark and ran everything else out. I watched him a while before I took him. Really trying to get calmed down, this is by far the best deer that I have taken. I wish it would have been with a bow but it was a rifle hunt, still a very good hunt for us. He scored 131 3/8.

I ended up taking them to Allens Taxidermy in Clyde, my buddy had a few mounts on the wall from there so I went to his shop to talk to him. I was pretty impressed with what he was working on, he does quit a few cats up there, all the ones on in his shop looked supper good. I can't tell you how proud I am of how they turned out. I am actually taking a big stripper I had done several years ago to get the mount and color redone. The guy I originally took him to didn't have any idea how to do a striper, a very expensive lesson learned.

I would recommend Allen's to anyone.
