IMO, buying a used Mac is setting yourself up for failure. Buying a used laptop off of Craigslist is iffy even if you know about computers. I personally would never do it and I basically rebuilt my desktop from the ground up. I've also put many a computer together from parts the same way a lot of you guys do your ARs. A used laptop could have literally anything wrong with it and, without pulling it apart and inspecting the innards, you will have no idea until it blows up on you.

You can get just as much tech support at Best Buy as you can from an Apple store if that's the route you want to go.

If you're absolutely set on a mac, and you shouldn't be because they are overrated, may I suggest this.

But remember that for nearly half that you could get this and it's literally twice the computer. It just doesn't have a little Apple on it.

eDIT - My son has this one. It's touch screen and very fast. So far he's had no issues with it.

OK, go buy the computer from SM-Houston and ask him for tech support when you need.

I can build him a desktop if he wants and I'd be happy to provide tech support.

        I don't build laptops though.
