    Anyone else?

I am a professional. I went to college. I did my time. I smile, I'm polite and I work hard. There are those people that come in and just act a total Jack wagon to us just because I'm here to serve them. It makes me wanna smack'em just once. But instead I continue to smile and serve them as a professional. Anyone else feel this frustration or do y'all get to speak your mind?

Right there with you, but mine isn't customers. It's our drivers and salespeople calling us, drives me nuts sometimes.

Unfortunately it's like that in any business. Our society today as a whole is more rude and impatient than ever.

        Kill them with kindness..

I run a customer service department for a commercial food equipment manufacturer.

We deal with a lot of franchisees, very large chains, etc. For some reason people feel like they can go ballistic when they have a problem. People will say all kinds of stuff over the phone they would never say in person.

It's funny people think they have to be a level IV jackass or we wont help them. In reality when people call in and are reasonable we do a lot more for them than the fit throwers.

My basic rule you can be unhappy with our product, the service, etc. yell and scream all you want, but if you start to curse or insult me directly then we're done right then and there.

In the medical field it's dealing with impatient patients that drives me nuts

I can definitely understand in the medical field that you are dealing with "sick" people, and that tends to shorten a patient's patience level, which in turn drives you nuts. I know I couldn't do it.

BUT, there have been several different offices that I've visited in the past that bring it upon themselves. Case in point............if I have an appointment at 1pm, I'm usually there 10-15 minutes early to fill out a books worth of paperwork by my appointment time. If I am made to wait (through no fault of my own) more than 5-10 minutes past my appt time, I'll start getting ticked off. I had one Dr that I had to wait for almost an hour past my appt time before I was even called to the back, then another 30 minutes before the Dr came in. Sorry, that's disrespectful of your patients.

EDIT: Please don't take this as a dig at you personally. It's just a trend that I've noticed for the last few years in the medical field.

Hang a sign up that saysWe reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
When they get out of line point at the sign (and smile) then point at the door ( and smile bigger)

I learned early on, as a teenage clerk at Albertson's, that I am terrible at customer service. They tend to frown on climbing over the customer service desk to strangle a customer. Since then I've always picked jobs that allow me to work by myself.

There are students here on the campus where I work that think we are servants. Kids that have never had to lift a finger and have never heard the word no. There are not many but those few are very hard to deal with in a pleasant manner. But I do it with a smile. Their protected little world will come to an end one day.
I guess I believe in the golden rule for the most part and try to treat people as I would like to be treated. Thats not always easy.

Nope, I cannot speak my mind. Have to keep taking it and taking and taking it and taking it. Then I get home to my community, and take it from those I thought were my friend, I take if from family, then my kids take it from their friends even though they have no choice in what I do. Then I turn on the news, or browse Facebook, or check TBH and notice where I keep taking it some more, pretty much on a daily basis.

But its all good, its a job worth "taking it" even though I can never truly speak my mind. I will retire someday, then all bets are off....

Some would say they pay my salary for me to take it. Well, a raise every now and then would be nice, but Ill surely keep taking it even if I don't get one. Its not for everybody

I used to have to smile and "take it" like most everyone else. I retired a few years back and my freedom has loosened my lips more than once when dealing with a jerk (or worse). I try and hold my tongue (or not hit "send"), but some of those that don't play well with others need to be told off.

Are you at the store out there? Good burgers with jap bread!

What's strange is that I notice that if I am nice and don't fly off the handle, my problems get taken care of sooner and with less headache.. strange how that works.
