We did when we were newlyweds. We were 30 and 29, both worked and had been independent for years and giving that autonomy up seemed hard . After a while we realized that was silly and combined everything.

We have always had 2 joint accounts. It's a pain in the rear for two people to try to work out of one account. We each have an account that we use. We each have access to both, and they're at the same bank. We can move money back and forth between them whenever we need to, and we can each see whatever activity is going on. Nothing hidden. Both "our money". But we each just have one account of our own to keep up with. We divide up bills and expenses that we're each responsible for (proportionate to our incomes, not half and half). We each tithe, save, and all of that.
It works great for us. I'd hate to go to one account and try to keep it straight between two people. But that's just us.

We have separate accounts only because we banked at the same place when we were married and we both have access to both accounts. But I never have any idea what's in either account because I work and the wife handles all the bills and pretty much everything else. But we talk about big money purchases. We keep the accounts separate so that not all our money is one account incase something happens to the account
