    Trailer registration question

I did some work for a guy and traded for a utility trailer. The trailer came with a certificate of origin. Not sure if that means it was never titled or if he lost it. The guy that traded it for the work had it registered in his name and gave me the receipts for his registration. So does the trailer even need a title?

Second, my wife's family owns 100 ac and I plan to use the trailer to move blinds and take my riding mower back and forth to mow my wife's grandmother's yard. What do I need to know about doing farm tags.

I bought a small lightweight lowboy from Lowe's and that was all I got. I got it registered/licensed without any title.

As far as farm tags my 16' trailer is only $6/yr for registration and all I have given them is my Texas Agriculture or Timber Registration Number when I renew.

My FIL has this. He is suppose to send me the webpage to apply for one. Would it be easier/legal just to use his number?

Call the county office and give them the tag numbers and they will tell you if there is a title. They will tell you exactly what to do.

Does the registration have to be paid in the county that you live in? I live in san Patricio county and the tax office is in Aransas pass(town I live in), but I work 45 min away in corpus Christi. can I pay the registration and do paperwork in corpus?
