Storing/Transporting a cape?
I know this topic has been covered (maybe even recently), but I cant seem to find it. you take your deer to the processor and its caped. whats the best method to transport it to the taxi if you have to keep in the freezer for a few days before you can get it to the taxi? Methods or pics of transport? Is the hide and head packed in ice enough?

You can buy a soft sided cooler specifically made for this. I've thought of modifing a foam cooler but just don't see the need.
This year, I took my deer the next day. I took the lid off of a 60 qt cooler and filled it with ice. It worked fine but would burn a lot of ice if you had to go 2 or 3 days like that. -
I think I can keep it in a couple of heavy duty plastic trash bags in a deep freezer for a few days. Would it be ok to just have the head and hide in the bags, with horns sticking out or bag the whole thing if possible? Of course I'll need to take it out of freezer in order to transport it to the taxi. Taxi is prob 3-4 hour trip. Just dont think I'll be able to take to the taxi right away, its gonna be a few days before I can go.Comment

These are well worth the money.
Have kept capes in them for a couple of days before taking to taxi.Comment
