    Are you kidding me??

So my nephews bday is the 17th, he will be 3 but he looks 7, lol his dad is 6'7" 300lbs. So my mom stopped bye house while I'm packing up truck so wife can leave early tomorrow then I'll meet her up at the lake after work. So she says y'all headed to go hunting tomorrow I said yep, she says y'all going to be back for the birthday party Sunday? My response with dumbfounded look who's bday party? Then she explains it's my nephews, they live 4.5 hours away but are having a party here intown this Sunday for her family and friends. We haven't received a call or invatition yet. Wife text my sister inlaw about it to make sure she says oh ya sorry mailed them out late you should get it tomorrow. What the heck???? Looks like I'm cutting hunting trip short this weekend. I love my nephew to heck and back just kinda irritates me on the lack of communication, her and my wife talk all the time, not one mention about it!

I"d send a present, but I wouldnt cut my hunt short on such short notice for a 3yr old who isnt going to remember if you were at his birthday or not. My world doesnt revolve around someone else's inability to communicate their plans appropriately.

I wouldn't be cutting my trip short for no notice like that.
At that age the kid won't even know.

Different story if was your kid.

4.5 hours away sounds like an even better reason to see your nephew any chance you get.

My sister and sister-in-law know that I love my nieces and nephews and would do anything for them. I'm the cool uncle that takes kids to school on the Ranger and lets them shoot stuff. They also know that Uncle Curt don't do stupid parties. I wouldn't miss a good Geico commercial for a kid's birthday party, much less a hunting trip. I can never remember my dad going to any kid's birthday party besides mine and my sister's either. I believe this kinda stuff all came to be, along with couple's showers, spiced lattes and the Lifetime network.

OK…I get this. I live very close to my nieces and nephews and see them daily. If I didn't get to see them often, my above-mentioned opinion would likely be different.

That's on them! You need to teach them to send out invitations earlier. Best way to do that is to send an arrow through a Buck while they are having their party!!

It's tough love, but somebody's gotta do it
