Chicken Crap Way To Grow Deer!

Over the past 15 years or so, local hay growers have started fertilizing hay meadows with chicken manure here in East tx. One particular fellow buys and sells ranches and raises hay. He was the first to start doing this and I immediately notice more deer using the meadows. Within a couple of years, he had some GIANT bucks show up and one of his hunters killed a booner.

A few years later, he bought another property that im very familiar with, put out chicken crap, and in a couple years, he had a huge increase in antler size. He also had the most beautiful cover crops ever. I saw this pattern continue as other ranchers started using it as well.

The past couple years, I have been experimenting with it on food plots. I went whole hog with it this year and yesterday, I put out 40,000lbs on my food plots, honey suckle, and clover.

Ill keep you posted on how its looking.

It's the best fertilizer there is hands down, but you can burn your crop real quick with it also if you over do it. Keep us posted!

You should really get them to feed the chickens vanilla flavored scratch. You would have the best of both worlds.

I grew up on a turkey raising farm in the 50's and 60's and that was common even then. One of my earliest jobs was loading manure spreaders by hand with scoops for my dad. Little brother "doghouse" here on TBH might even remember them days.

I steal some out of my dads chicken coop for my spring garden. First time I ever used it, I overdid it and burned everything up! Dang good fertilizer once I figured out this stuff was HOT!

Your venison will "taste like chicken"

                        Good luck! Sounds interesting

It's gotta sit a while I think. I make "garden tea". Chicken crap in a burlap sack in a trash can fill of water setting in the sun. It'll cook like tea and the just pour the crap tea over my garden plants. Good stuff.
