I don't let ANYONE that's a stranger approach me while out in public.[/QUOTE]

it is your comment that i was using,,, if you did not mean it like you wrote it,,, why write such silly stuff? i was just asking how you cope with reality,,,

should he have been more alert,,,, i would think so,,, but it is also highly possible by carrying the gun open he made himself a target,, the robber had a plan, the victim did not,,, i have never been in favor of open carry nor will i be, because you give the advantage away of having a weapon when everyone can see it,,,,, there is no real purpose served by open carry,, but if anyone is planing on robbing a place,, the first people they will deal with are the ones who have visible guns....

The key word there being approach me. Maybe you interpret that differently.

You and I have had this discussion many times on open carry and we will never agree.

You hypothetical scenario of being the first target just isn't a problem. If it were we would see it in the news quite a bit more often. And seeing how the media lives to shed anything with guns in a bad light you can bet that they will jump at any opportunity to report on it.

Based on your words " there is no real purpose served by open carry," then all the cops shouldn't open carry either, right?

plain clothes cops generally don't,, as for uniformed cops it is apart of the uniform,, most cops in england dont carry at all, and i know more than few cops who probably shouldnt carry at all,, they are poor shots on a low or non stress range qualifying course,

i really hope your fantasy world lives up to your expectations,,,

Man y'all are hard on the kid. I guess when you were 21 no one could have ever walked up to start a conversation with ya and then could possibly rob you?

I thought the presence of firearm via open carry was supposed to reduce crime. Explain that one, OCT!

Open carrying is about as dumb as walking around with a shirt made of 100 dollar bills (open carrying your wallet?). It creates visibility, and draws attention to you: exactly what you should be avoiding for "safety".
