quail hunts in central-south Texas

no and have not hunted them in 10 plus yrs.

I remember shooting limits of quail back in the late 70's around Falfurrias working dogs. It sure was fun. I haven't seen many quail over the last 30 years. I'm no help but good luck in finding something.

Here's a place my father in law has been to, www.waltonranchtx.com, said it was a pretty good "hunt". Looks reasonable on price.

I didn't post it, but I'm guessing he's referring to the typical guided quail "hunt" in Texas is for pen raised birds. Shake 'em out of a bag and shoot 'em. Not quite like that but that's what a lot of people think.

Alot of people call them kick and shoots because pen raised quail don't want to fly.

Unless you have a significant amount of money to spend, guided wild bird quail hunts are not to be had in Texas right now. Most guides are guys with a string of pointers that will come to your land and run dogs for you on your birds.

We see them every couple years in Falfurrias(depending on the fire ants)
