    Next Big Thing??

Is there a next big thing coming?
I mean we have composite bows and arrows, all kinds of broadheads and strings. Don't forget sights and releases.
To me it seems like we've about peaked out.
I mean your only going to get so much speed out of say 70 lbs.
    Dail-a-Sights ect..
So what do you think, is there going to be anything NEW or just a twist on the same stuff now.

    Crossbows are the next thing.

You do not have to draw. They shoot faster and farther. They have a scope and trigger. They will keep getting faster and more accurate at long ranges. Then next will come a way to shoot a ballistic projectile from a crossbow and before you know it Texas will have a 4 month rifle season.

(Insert lots of smiley faces here........)

I thought it would be new hunting feature utilizing sonics from an Android phone to realistically simulate everything from the shot to the impact. Thereby engrossing the animal so deeply in the experience that it would just fall over dead right there.

No? Oh well, guess I'm switching to the IPhone then.

        Next Big Thing??

Just my opinion, but there won't be another BIG thing. It's all already out there. It just depends on whether it will be allowed legally (whether literal law or record book). Examples are Draw Locks, 80%+ let off systems, ballistic arrow heads, scopes (for bows), range finding sights, the list goes on. Most everything you see today has been around for a long time. It has only been refined to certain degrees. Even computer driven remote controlled hunting has been around a long time!!

That's just my uneducated option, of course.

I purchased a Pro-line point blank (bow) sometime around 1988. It was an amazing bow at the time, and I was pretty sure we were maxed out then. Don’t remember all the spec’s on the bow, but impressive! I think I was getting better than 220fps, could even get faster if someone were to shoot carbon arrows though it. (but who would be crazy enough to use those wacky arrows). I think technology and products may progress, but I don’t see how (again).

I pray the day there is a comfortable 400fps bow. I mean I can hold 40lbs a long time and with that speed would be great.

More speed will come, but there will always be tradeoffs. Laws of physics can be bent/masked but not broken. I think we'll see more "innovations" in things like fletching, lit nocks etc. I think "affordable" trackable nocks with your smartphone will be the next huge thing for those with cell coverage on leases. The tech exists, just needs to be miniaturized. I know I'd pay for it.

No matter whT they come up with next I can see more and more people getting back to the basics like trad equipment. The more complex and expensive these contraptions get eventually more and more people will decide that it all takes away from the the hunt.
$ 1500-2500 for a bow , attempting to shoot animals at farther and farther distances.

Personally since I went trad even my misses are enjoyable but rarely happen because I shoot them from 3 yds to 15 yds
