I've shot through the mesh with no problem. I'd practice in your backyard though because it's different looking through your sight AND the mesh...just something to get a few shots in that setting so you aren't thrown off the first time you shoot out of it on a deer.
Use the mesh from the a different window than your main shooting hole or get some replacement panels so you don't destroy the main one during practice.

It's also important that your bow be tuned properly - if your arrow is exiting the bow all wonky, the mesh will effect the flight. If you're not sure about your bow, come to full draw and rotate so that the riser is right behind the mesh when you release. The closer your broadhead is to the mesh when you release, the less a crooked arrow will be effected.
ALSO - make 100% sure your fletchings are completely glued down- especially the leading edge of the fletchings. If that front edge is flopping AT ALL, it'll catch on the mesh. Absolute fix for this problem is a drop of super glue at the leading edge of each fletchings, where it contacts the shaft.
I love shooting through mesh and I use it a lot. These are just some tricks I've found for overcoming the few issues that CAN arise. Use them along with the other suggestions posted and you'll love it too!
