I say it is a good idea depending on the size of your plot. I have a place next to 120 acres of alfalfa that I have feeders next to and the deer go to the feeders, so..... I would say it works to get them in an area small enough to bow hunt.
I sprayed roundup on all the grass to kill it, worked in 105 degree heat to disc it with my ATV and will put out $75.00 in seed and another 3-4 hours to plant it per site (I have 3). So I guess I would say its a good idea. I have a stand, camera, feeder, and food plot at each of my three locations and it works well...
All of my feeders are on or near a food plot. It helps attract the deer and provides good winter forage. The deer usually work their way over to the feeder when it goes off anyway. I also think another advantage is that the plots attract does and the roaming bucks are attracted to the plots when the rut starts
