Carpenter ants, termites, or something else?

At first I was worried this was termite frass but after a close look and some Googling I started thinking carpenter ants, but it does not match the pics I saw of that either. It seems to be wood shavings, fibers and tiny little body parts - heads, thorax, etc I have not seen actual bugs of any kind. Any ideas? In case you can't tell from the pic, it is on an interior windowsill

I will rule out Carpenter Ants. Any chance you can get some closer pictures? Do they have wings? Does the thorax have 2 or 3 parts? Unfortunately, after they have dry up, it makes it difficult to identify them.

I saw a few wings mixed in but like you said everything is all dried up. Guess I need to have an exterminator come take a look

Carpenter ants. Definatly not subterranian termites they leave no frass, mud tunnels are their signature. Drywood or formosan termites leave small droppings which look like a loaf of french bread with a small indention on one side end to end. They will be approx. 1/32" long and tan.

Not sure what they are but getting rid of them isn't going to be fun
