    Electrical question

I am installing a new cook top in the kitchen.
The wires coming out of the wall are black, white, ground
The wires on the cook top are blk,wt,red, ground

    I know black to black
But would it be .....white( from wall) to red( from cook top) and then
White and green from cook top to ground from wall?

    Black-black(power)
    Red-white(power)
    White/green-ground

This ^^^. Old stove could have been wired differently. New stove appears to be 50 or 60 amp thus 2 hot legs 1 neutral 1 ground. Verify in the breaker box how the old stove was wired. For example was the black wired to a 30 amp breaker and white wired to neutral and green to ground. Also more importantly, what size wire was previously installed? You going to need at least #6 for a 50 amp circuit.

Older cook tops are 30 amps.

Most if not all the new smooth(glass) cooktops are 40 amps.
