Any increased activity/traffic in the area this past weekend by other hunters? Mowing, filling feeders, placing stands, trimming limbs, etc.?

I have been watching two bucks every afternoon for about a month from my back porch eating at a corn pile on my property. This past weekend the people who have the place leased behind me were riding four wheelers, mowing, running chainsaws, hauling stands in, getting ready for deer season. The bucks have not been back since. They know deer season is fixing to start.

Could be anything mentioned above or the fact that they will change patterns headed into the fall. Just the way of the whitetail.

I've heard they love those long black beans from black locust. Might put a camera on those if you have any concentration of them nearby.

I have one buck that I will get pics and usually see once during the first 2 weeks of season, then he is gone. No pics or sightings the rest of the year. This has happened for 3 straight years. He will be 7.5 this year. Haven't got a single pic of him this year. He might have passed away during the winter.

This is the correct answer. They break up and start staking out their territory. Just simple as that.

Well, I don't know about increased activity. The property that I hunt is a developing neighborhood with a couple hundred homes going up. The greenbelt is what I hunt. They just broke ground a new phase but that has been going on a couple of months. Basically there is always activity going on there.

Thanks for the input guys! Always good to get feedback on what others think. I will post up a pic if he shows back up!
