Thinking about getting a tool box

I'm thinking about getting a tool box for my truck but I'm not exactly sure what to get or what to put in it. Any suggestions on which box to get? And I'd be interested in seeing what yall keep in your boxes.

That's like asking what gun to buy. It's depends on application and how much stuff you carry in the bed of your truck. I used to have a shallow low profile Tractor Supply toolbox in my 06 F250. Could carry plenty of misc stuff and I could still slide stuff underneath it.

Looking for a crossover box and looking to fill it with just anything that I may come across needing. Some in case of emergency stuff

I quit putting tool boxes on my pickups because"Small boxes collect small junk and big boxes collect big junk."
I keep a tow strap and a couple shackles behind the seat.

True but I love mine. Im known for having just about everything I would ever need in my tool box. Basic tool kit including wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, etc. Air compressor, tow straps, chains and ratchet straps, extra coolant, oil, timing belt and tire plug kit. Jumper cables, come a long.

Im sure I have a bunch more "junk" in it that I dont remember off the top of my head. Inside the cab, under the back seat I have an extra pair of clothes, blanket, bottles of water, fishing rod, MRE.

It may all seem unnecessary but to me its worth it and I have been broke down or stranded and have saved my own rear more times than I can remember. All this is out of sight in my truck and my tool box. My tool box isnt even full.

Only you can decide what you need to put in it but I would recommend at the least simple tool set and extra oil.

                .

I have inside the bed. The shorter one like 48in if i recall. Holds plenty and leaves the sides open for hauling lumber or something like that. But thats a short bed. 8ft bed probably doesnt matter.

If you want to keep what you have in your tool box, get a Ranch Hand, Weather Guard or RKI. Rand Hand the top choice. Spend some time at the box stores and pull the keys out of random boxes and see if they all have the same key, Atwoods and Tractor supply are bad about all the tool boxes having the same keys. If you see a tool box key with a number CH751 stamped on the key be assured a good portion of the population have that key on their ring also.

My box from Tractor Supply is fine. the lock is a little sticky sometimes but other than that, no issues. I keep lots of random stuff in mine. Tools, fix a flat, air pumps, shooting rests, stuff like that.

Titan monster vault. I love mine but it's more for firearms and valuables.

I was told that as well, took mine out and put this in.

From receiver locks, to tailgate handles, to padlocks & commercial locks, you'll find BOLT Lock carries a full range of durable locks with the industry's highest corrosion resistance rating.

Helps cut down on the amount of keys I keep with me as well.

I had a in bed UWS chest and i really liked it, it was strong, durable and had a good locking mechanism.
