    Shotgun double feeding. Help!

So my girlfriend is borrowing her brother in laws Franchi Affinity to go duck hunting with me. I was just making sure it had a plug in it, cycled a few rounds by hand to make sure it was feeding right but with one shell in the chamber and 2 in the magazine, after I eject the one in the chamber, it double feeds and both shells are stuck on the loading ramp. I had to shove the other shell back into the magazine and then it would finally feed to the chamber.

We said whatever and took it hunting, cycles fine but I didnt want to deal with an issue out there so I would only put one in the chamber for her and one in the magazine.

Just wondering if this is normal for inertia driven shotguns, ive always used my trusty 870 or over under and dont have stuff like this to worry about.

Never heard of that one. Sounds like the clip below the chamber that holds the shells in the magazine is not working properly. Maybe it has some dirt under it.

I had one break off once. Had to have it reattached by a gunsmith.

Probably dirty. If this gun is working correctly, you can load it all the way up (one in the chamber, two in the mag), and if you pull back the bolt, the shells in the magazine will not move. There is a small tab with a red knob you have to push to get a shell out of the mag.

Where you pushing on that tab at all? Maybe you where double pushing it? I have trouble getting shells into the magazine on my 20 ga sometimes.

It may be dirty, ill take it apart and give it a good cleaning. It is a little hard to load in the magazine. Are you talking about the tab with the red dot at the bottom of the feed ramp?

Ill check the clip, it will feed but if I have more than one in the magazine, it will feed both shells. Didnt know if it would make a difference if I were to actually shoot and cycle shells.

I'd go with it being dirty, clean it, and go from there

Find someone with the same gun and compare them.

If you put a shell in the magazine, and it comes out without pressing that tab with the dot, something is wrong/stuck. They should not come out (unless you shoot), without pressing that tab. Period. That's a benelli family thing.

Also you have to press that tab to make the bolt lock back. Gun totally empty, bolt closed, press tab, hear click, pull back bolt, and it will lock. That it normal operation.

It will be tough to clean in there, there is probably something stuck behind that mechanism.
