I need a tanner

I LIVE AROUND DALLAS AND NEED SOMEONE TO TAN AN ALLIGATOR HIDE I JUST GOT. A TAXIDERMIST WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME 120 A FOOT AND AS LONG AS HE DIDN'T MEASURE AND TOOK MY WORD ON HOW LONG IT WAS THATS COOL. ALLIGATOR IS 7' 8" SO OVER 900 DOLLARS. ANYONE KNOW SOME THAT JUST TANS?

North Texas Tannery in Denton. Don't know if they do Alligator hides but they have done several deer and buffalo hides for me and do quality work.

Reptiles require different tanning techniques than mammals. Google alligator tanneries. It's a special type of tan. It can be expensive.

Do your homework , and find a quality tannery with A+ referrals

Don't shop price (shop quality) you get what you pay for

If you want the hide professionally dyed, there are close to 20 individual steps involved including shaving and buffing

True commercial tanneries charge by the centimeter on belly width , 9 + months is about normal wait

^ This. You can check around and ship it to a quality tanner. I think most processors ship the hides out. I was going to have mine tanned and found that was just the first step in a long expensive process. Once it's tanned then you send it to someone to make your boots, wallets, purses, belts, etc. North Texas Tannery is close by you. I just sent them two axis hides. They have lots of good referrals (claim to have tanned Miranda Lambert's whitetail) If they can't do it they may can offer some advice.
