Rookie questions

So I'm going into my first season bow hunting and have some basic questions.
1. Do u do anything in a tree stand to kill time? Like mess with ur phone or read a book. Ect...
2. Do u eat/drink in the stand? If so what do u eat and what would put off to much smell? Like would jerky be too potent?
3. for the beer drinkers do u drink beer in a tree stand?
4. Do u pee while in the stand? In a bottle or straight out of the tree?

Sorry for all the basic questions but I'm the only person I know that bow hunts other than my the brothers. Lol

I would be careful with drinking in a tree stand.

1. I usually just sit in the stand and look around at nature, sometimes I will look at my phone.
2. I do not eat in the stand, but I usually take a water with me.
3. I do not drink beer in the tree stand, could make climbing down interesting though!
4. I will not pee anywhere near my stand or feeder

Make sure you really scent up, keep your clothes in a special box and don't wear them until you get out to your land. I think thats the biggest mistake I have made in the past, its all about SCENT CONTROL! Good Luck, be patient!

3. Nope just before and after
4. Nope I pee before plus I dont sit in it all day like some people.

Now in a rifle blind.
1. Sleep, read, movies on tablet.
2. Water, jerky and beer.
3. Yes
4. Pee in a bottle.

I take a leak if I need to take a leak
I eat granola bars, candy bars, jerky, or what ever else I decide to take
I get down and chase off cows if needed

Don't feel the need to be stimulated beyond the excitement of hunting

Yes...pee in a wide mouth bottle that seals.

I take my huntin serious. Beer is for after the hunt.
I will pee right out of the tree. Sometimes I will climb down and pee in a scrape if I'm over-looking a scrape line. Not to pee anywhere around where you hunt is a MYTH!!!

I generally just watch nature, but if I had decent phone service, I would probably mess with my phone.

I eat apples, raisins, peanut butter crackers, etc, and always have a bottle of water with me.

I don't drink beer!!

If I need to pee, I stand up and pee off my stand

I just try to keep my movement to a minimum, now once deer:30 gets there, I quiet & still as a mouse

I have used phone, ate food, pee'd on ground, dip snuff, smoke cigarettes, and killed deer. It all depends on where you are and the set up. My theory is this: I'm there to have fun. If I sit there feeling miserable and don't see a deer or I set there comfortable and don't see deer, I'd rather sit comfortable and enjoy myself. That being said, everyone hunts different. Figure out what works for you but still gives you opportunity to harvest an animal.

I used to. Until I learned how sneaky deer can be. Looked up from my phone and there was a deer under the feeder. Completely missed his approach. Never heard a thing. From that day on, My phone stays in my pack. I watch nature, I think, pray, etc. But I stay alert.

I drink water, eat sandwiches, fruit, jerky. I just try to pick quieter foods, but I don't worry too much about it. If you're worried about the food smell, consider I used to hunt and dip. I'd spit at the base of my tree. I've had deer come by and lick it. That stuff smells nasty

Nope. I don't drink and hunt.

Right off the side. Never been an issue, and I've had deer come in just after. Unless you've been boozing, they probably smell it as "animal pee". I don't think they associate it as a threat, and I, along with a few here, pee in our mock scrapes with success.

1. I watch nature more than anything. Sometimes I may check the web or send a few text messages. You can check TBH and see where others are hunting, results, etc. Back in college I would bring study materials if an exam was comming up.

2. I typically don't eat in the stand as most of my hunts are only a few hours.

3. I'll take a few beers out for an evening hunt sometimes. If I choose to drink, I ususally hunt out of one of our pop-up blind spots, which doesn't involve climbing. I'll also hunt a tripod that has a 3 x 3 platform on top. Don't think I would drink and hunt out of a climbing stand or similar.

4. I've done both the pee in the bottle and pee on the ground. Between coffee in the morning or beer in the evening, it's tough not to go at least once. Most the time I'll use a sealed bottle, but I swear, I've had deer walk right over where I just took a leak. So, not sure if it matters much.
