What a slap in the face to our veterans

Fame caused PTSD? Give me a break.

I send many prayers for you that served and suffer from this horrible condition.

PTSD only came to light because of war but that's not the only cause of it. Now I'm not sure being famous could cause it but who knows

She ain't even THAT famous. I can think of one song she's done, but then I always confuse her with Fiona Apple. I guess family guy made fun of her once so that counts for something? She's an idiot.

Oh I don't disagree that other things can cause it.

I watched my mother die a very awful death and certainly suffered from it.

I just more associate it with war veterans.

Let me start this off by saying I didn't watch the clip cause I don't have sound here at the office, but I did read the short article. However, PTSD isn't a condition only had by our veterans. While many of them suffer from it and it is a horrible condition, it isn't delegated to only those is military or LEO services. Now, do I think she had PTSD....no. Maybe she had something, but doubtful it was actually PTSD.

Unfortunately I think now with all the vets truly suffering from this disorder, doctors and the general public are now reacting to PTSD the way they did and still do ADD/ADHD in children. Every time someone has a symptom, Oh Lord it must be PTSD. People are so quick to jump to their own diagnosis using Web MD, it's flat out ridiculous.

And in the case of PTSD it is a real shame because it is a very serious condition and with very serious consequences if not dealt with correctly.

Only mentioned Vets because I believe the general public associate PTSD with Vets, LEOs, etc.

More and more emotional issues are being placed under the PTSD umbrella.

Just how diagnoses works. Self diagnosis works that way too.

Pretty soon someone will place your subconscious traumatic childbirth memories under PTSD. Mark my words.

PTSD was an invisible sickness for years and caused a huge loss of life. Now at least they recognize and try to treat it.
Does she have it HMMMMMM spoiled?

It seems that anyone who had a tragic event has PTSD. I assume the Dr will determine how debilitating the effect. I wonder what it was before 1940, 1950, 1960 etc. unfortunately life sometimes deals us tragedy. Most learn to deal with it, some I guess want to be victims.

I believe in PTSD, but not to the degree that some have claimed. I think 60% of those who claim PTSD may be full of malarky. That is just my opinion of course after working alongside them. However, I have never been seen for it and I have noticed that I am quicker to anger and to emotion since 2003 and my first combat tour. I do believe combat changes you and so can a traumatic event.

I agree combat changes you. But many events in life change you, marriage, children, loss of friends, divorce, death, auto accident, winning the lotto, missing the P@Y deer, birth of a child. Life is about change and life is not fair and can be tough, but that is life.
