    The "C" word....

Got a call from my Chef after he left work tonight, one of his Sous Chefs has an appointment with an Oncologist, his Neurologist (he has epilepsy) found a large mass in his head during a routine CT scan. The poor kid is 31, no girl, no family and scared out of his mind.....

I meet with him tomorrow to review his rights and other HR stuff. Lost my dad to a long battle with lung cancer earlier this year and I can't even imagine how terrified he must be!!!!! I/we are there to support him in any way possible and I know that this is just part of God's plan but......

Gonna be a rough conversation to have with this young man.

    Advice?????

Faith....that's it. Keep the faith and take it one day at a time.

I assume you are somewhat older. Be the father/big brother figure not a supervisor/boss. This is REAL life and could be the difference between his will to fight or accept this as a total lost cause.

          I agree.

Let him know that you will do whatever.. He's got a lot going on. At least this is what I would want if I was in his situation. The more support he receives, the more positive his attitude toward the situation will be.

          Prayers for him.

It's like this disease will get us all. Lost both my parents and my wife's parents to it.

Dealing with this myself. I tell people I dont know what the future holds but I do know that God holds the future. I cant think of a better place to be than being held in nail scarred hands. Prayers sent.

For me what helped the most was just hearing a serious but confident "you're gonna be fine".

Fear and dread are what grips you most; be the positive friend now.

Few of us ever really know the time and place of our demise. Leave that up to the doctors.

                              lift it up to Lord

direct him to a local support group for cancer survivors , or people confronting the disease right now

this young man needs optimism in his life, not pessimism

encourage him to stay busy, an idle mind is dangerous
