    RV fridge issues?

I have a Americana Dometic Fridge appr. 12yrs old in my toy hauler. Last weekend I noticed the fridge and freezer wasn't cold. Looked at the control buttons above the fridge and saw a Check light on. 1st time i've seen this.
I always run on electric but it can run on propane too if I chose to. There's a Auto button for electric/gas and a On/Off button. The only display lights is Check light and Auto light. Anyone know what might be a cause(s) of this. I turned power button off/on few times and check light would come on after few seconds. I'm not getting much help from Dometic Company.
    Thanks

Switch it to propane and see if it works. It could be the element or the control board. When mine did that the control board was out but it worked fine on propane.

Pull the outside plate off. You might have a leak. I think there will be some greenish tint stuff there.

Did you try a hard reset on the Refridgerator?

Make sure it is sitting level.
Turn it off and back on.
Make sure you have gas by lighting the stove.
          Smell ammonia?

DFWPI (bobby) had the same problem with his last year. I opened the access door on the outside of the camper and checked the fuse on the back of the fridge which we found to have gone bad. Check your fuse on the unit first.

Thanks for comment. If there was Ammonia leak think the wife would've smelt it.
              What is a hard reset?

I had one just like it in a 1986 RV. Never could rely on it. Hot/Freezing you know. Took it and dump it and replaced with a Collage Fridge from Lowes with a separate freezer.. I have the RV set and do not move and is always hooked to AC. Had to do some Mods to the Fridge cove but I know its always good to go.

Easiest way to know if the sealed system leaked is to turn it to propane and see if it works. If it works on propane you know it hasn't leaked and you just need to see why the element isn't heating.

The check light indicates that it is not cooling. If you are running it on auto, make sure you have voltage at the outlet behind fridge. These are generally connected to the GFCI outlet, so make sure that is not tripped. The check light came on when it tried to switch from elec. To gas, so make sure you have propane.

The check light doesn't come on if you have a leak in coils. And you can't always smell a leak.

Check electrical & propane, if that doesn't fix it, you can call me and I can walk you through a few things.
