It's always best to dress nice when interviewing. Most of the time the people who will interview you will tell you to dress casual if that's what they want. If they didn't let you know I would dress up.
Dressing up shows you care enough to look your best and respect the process. NO ONE ever said "I would have hired him but he just looked to professional"
Every time I've interviewed, I've worn a button down shirt, slacks, and a nice tie. I don't put on the jacket, usually, because of the nature of the job (and the fact that we're located three quarters of a mile from the surface of the sun). If you go that route and you're well groomed, you'll look professional but not aloof. The idea that you need to be better dressed than the interviewer doesn't always stick, because it can make you look pretentious.
