CONWAY, Ark. — A Conway-area man died from electrocution while he was
using jumper cables to hook up power to his house after his
electricity was shut off.

Authorities say 33-year-old Lonnie Montgomery was found dead Wednesday
outside his home on Skunk Hollow Road. He was still clutching one end
of a set of jumper cables. Officials say the other end was connected
the electricity meter box.

Faulkner County sheriff's Lieutenant Matt Rice says it appears that
Montgomery tampered with the meter box and a plastic cover installed
by Entergy Arkansas after service was cut due to nonpayment.

Sheriff's Major Andy Shock says Montgomery was attempting to adjust or
remove the jumper cables when he was electrocuted.

The bubbas at 47 station made the run on this clown...said when he lit up it looked like a cartoon character when they've used too much gun powder....poof and his clothes were shredded! Don't think he's got much left for hands and feet. Might have helped his I.Q. cuz he wuz straight up ignant before the cookout. Made a run like this a few years ago except it was a utility co. lineman working around 14K volts without the proper gloves on along with other safety mess ups. He lived but his fingers were burned off like candles. The white hats got ****y when I ask them about the gloves!

DALLAS — Authorities in Dallas say a man burned over half of his body while apparently trying to steal copper wire from a high-voltage power line has died.

The Dallas County medical examiner's office confirmed Monday that James Buster McKay died at Parkland Memorial Hospital. The 51-year-old McKay died Saturday. He had been listed in critical condition with third-degree burns.

Police Senior Cpl. Gerry Monreal said McKay was found on a transformer atop a utility pole and had "grabbed one of the live wires."

Authorities said several wires had been cut.

Copper thefts have increased across the nation as the salvage price for the metal has risen sharply in recent years.

McKay was taken to the Parkland Memorial Hospital burn unit with third-degree burns. Lopez said he was burned on about 50 percent of his body.

I was going to say his chances of survival were not good, with 3d degree burns (charring of the flesh) and internal organ damage. God bless him. Can you imagine him in line going up to Saint Peter, who looks down in the book and says, "You needed money, OK, and then you did what?"
