    Staking a Protein Block

Anyone any advice on best way to stake a protein block in place. On the spot I'm looking at, I have great cover for a bow shot, but need my protein blocks to stop disappearing from spot so easily.

Could stake a truck rim to the ground and put the block in/on that

Big Iron was making these great baskets for blocks that clamp on to a t-post. If I remember I'll get a pic of mine when I get to the lease this weekend.

We just take a spade drill or old wood bit and drill a hole thru them and drive a stake thru them and into the ground... works pretty good especially if you drill them right where you intend to put them. the shavings help to get animals started eating the block.

I've got one of these ^^^^

I don't have any pics handy though. It is shaped like a V and has a bracket that fits over a T-Post or that you can strap to something.

Keeps the block off the ground and keeps hogs from rolling it off.

In feeder pens the hogs don't get mine but coons and deer will walk away with big chunks. The rain is my worst enemy for blocks, they break apart easy. Big & J cubes.

You can place it inside an old tire but that may not stop a hog.

I never had hogs so they were not a problem but we always buried ours. Knock a few chips off and then pour of couple of gallons of water on it.

Of course I did not have rocks either!

Ended up doing the rebar thing, but don't have a drill bit long enough, so stuck 3 legs of rebar in adjacent sides so it can't roll. Only delaying the inevitable, I know.
