It has been a strange couple of months. A couple of months ago, I was contacted about doing some contract work for a company here in DFW. It was made clear from the onset that this was contract work for a few months. The CFO and I got along and worked together very well and my work product was accurate and fast.
There was a lull in the work and the CFO told me to take some time off while she caught up. In the mean time, another company contacted me about interviewing for the Controller's position there. I went through two interviews in two days then told to come in Monday to finalize the offer.
I came in and was told they wanted to put me on as an independent contractor for a while until they vetted me. We agreed to a 9/1 start date to full time. 9/1 came and went without an offer. I had figured out that I didn't want to stay there but it was money coming I the door.
The first company called me and wanted me to come in. I thought they meant for contract work, but they said they wanted to talk to me about one of the Controller positions there. The CFO did a better job of selling me to the partners than I ever could.
The next day I had an offer with the salary that I had asked for and great benefits. I passed all the background checks and start Monday.
I was out of work for several months and over 50 and starting to wonder if I would ever find a regular position. I know that God's hand was in this and I'm grateful. Sorry for the long read.
