I have a new Honda Rancher, less than yr old. It has electric shift which is what I think my problem is. I keep having a dead or weak battery. I ride appx 3-4 times in a 2 week period but only for a couple of miles to check a feeder. A friend says that Im not riding it enough to charge it and the electric shift uses a lot of juice. Is this common?

If there is a spark then you have something drawing down the battery and will have to trace it down. If no spark most likely bad battery do a load test on it to see.

The only thing it would adversely effect is if you have a clock on the display. Otherwise, everything would still work just fine by installing a battery disconnect switch.
