    Letting go of the cope

Week 1 is complete and I finished the 50/50 mixture of cope/smokey mountain chew...and I'm ready to go with 100% smokey mountain chew now. I've been really irritable this week and my hands are shaking a lot. Guess that is withdrawl symptoms or something.. Glad I'm getting this done before hunting season... Just wanted to let the GS tobacco quitters know they have a new member... Albeit with a frown on his face.

Good luck. I am currently not dipping. I say that because I go back and forth. Not to be discouraging but its hard to do without the snuff during Hunting season. I had good luck with nicotine gum and lozenges. Hang in there.

Quitting is very hard. Stick with it. It's very rewarding when you finally know you can do without it. Saves a ton of money too!

On Day three myself. Went straight cold turkey. You can do it! Quit a couple years ago. As soon as your headaches start it will only last a couple more days. You will make it

Thanks Mark. It will be a challenge for sure.

That's no joke! I was buying it by the sleeve and it was getting crazy. Although, the money was the main driver but more the constant soreness in my leftside of mouth.

I hear ya... several of my family and friends gave it up a while back but you have to be ready to quit. Don't get me wrong, i still like it and if it wasn't for cancer/sore gums I'd keep at it.

Just fyi.. the smokey mountain chew helps you to quit as it tastes like @#$%... but using it to mix with the real snuff allows you to quit without doing all at once.

I quit during the season 7 years ago, (on Nov 8th) and have enjoyed buying all kinds of tools and toys that I didn't used to be able to afford.

Hang in there. I just quit chewing on Monday. I dipped starting at 14 and quit around 2005 and started chewing to quit dipping. I smoked off and on from 2002 - 2008. It's hard but we can do it.

I had my last dip last Thursday 8/21/14. I tried the Smokey Mountain fake stuff but really don't care for it so I'm quitting cold turkey. I have been super grumpy this past week but I'm getting over the hump. 37 years of dipping...whew. It was 25 cents a can when I started and there was only Cope/Skoal/Happy Days. Thumbs up for everybody trying to quit...its hard.

try Vaping. You still get the nicotine but no tar. The tar is what kills everyone. Nicotine is like caffeine, just gives you a boost. This is what I did.
