And dare I say even Pat Green? Just heard a new song of his with Lyle Lovette and liked it pretty well. Texas Girls Are a Little Bit Better.
Well, PG is one of the best singer/songwriters in the history of Texas Music. His old stuff is as good as it gets and far superior to all the new wannbe's out there today. He packed em in the big joints in the late 90's/early 2000's.

It's weird how he fell off the map. I mean, most of the other big dog's new stuff sucks today as well. The scene is dead. Big time.

Heard him play a song in Nashville a while back that he wrote called "Sticks That Made Thunder" from the perspective of the oldest tallest tree on a civil war battlefield and I appreciated it. Great singer/songwriter and hell of a nice guy

If you ever see him request "Jonas", "Lesson in Love" and "Transvestite Trilogy"

they are not recorded anywhere to my knowledge...but awesome songs.

And tell him I said hi.
