    Automatic Gate Openers

I did a search on here and found lots of information on these. Looks like Apollo is the way to go for solar powered rigs.

I'm not sure which model to go with to swing the gate I'm going to build. I'm planning to build a 16' gate out of 2" 14 ga. square tubing. It'll have heavy duty hinges and should swing easily from 4 1/2" pipe posts.

Was also thinking about doing two 10-12' gates out of the same material. Do the models that open two gates vs. 1 cost considerably more? Are they weaker, require more maintenance, etc?

I'm needing to get one ordered pretty quick.

    Thanks,

    Ben

Apollo 1550 with 1050 panel should run you about a grand for the single gate

Add solar panel battery and keypads, lock, gooseneck.

My total was right at 1500

Model 1650 for the double gate - I like a single gate no real reason....

Gatecrafters is where I ordered mine.

I'm hoping the only bull of any kind that goes through this gate is in my cooler.

Thanks, Rod. I'm on Gatecrafters website now. Makes much more sense than the last Apollo dealer site I found. I'll have a welder around for the rest of the entry...any sense in upgrading to some weld on gate arms/brackets rather than the bolt on that come with the 1550 kit?

Apollo. They're durable and they stand behind their product.

The only thing you need to do for sure is weld the bracket, that the opener attaches to, that is on the gate. I've never seen a bolted one that doesn't get loose eventually.

They all come ready to weld on. Gc sends the two brackets that bolt on, or Apollo also makes one that bolts on (but only on a six inch wood post) so they say. I think the Apollo bolt on is about 45 bucks. It's just a square tube with a square plate, nothing you couldn't make....

Weld that sucker straight to your metal pipe. You don't need the brackets.

The grandsons open and close my gates.

                            Thanks Rod. You da man.

I ordered the 1550 "Security Package." Comes with two remotes, two keypads and a lock. I've had trouble finding the sensor before when trying to get out of a place....so people can just use the second keypad to get out if they don't have a remote.

Added two goosenecks and a 20 watt solar panel. $1625 after shipping.

Also, I emailed them after I ordered online and told them I wanted the 1050 panel. I didn't take the time to read what the difference was in it and the 8-something that I think came with it but took your word for it.
