What kind of spider is this?

Aside from dead (non chlorinated brake cleaner and a lighter) what is it? It was pretty big. Found it in the back yard.

We always called them Banana spiders. Used to light blackcats and toss in web. They run to it to start wrapping it and kaboom....green slime everywhere.

Yeah, my boys love catching crickets and tossing them up into the web. Pretty cool to watch the spider work. They are fast.
