Valve stem hades and a new use for a post driver

For the second time in two months the guts came out of a valve stem while i was airing up a tire on my truck. The last time the ture guy said he's never seen this before. I never knew how valve stems were put together until this. Now twice. Oh well, it's about time for new tires anyway.

To top it all off - the lug nuts were last put on with an impact wrench that must've been turned up to eleven. I couldn't budge three of them with my big fat self. So, remembering back to lessons learned from grandfathers, dad, and father-in-law, i improvised me some leverage. My grandfathers old post driver that i inherited came in handy once again. A quick push and the lug gave in like the French.

Oh well, off to the tire shop. I guess i'll be looking for labor day tire sales.

Good thing you didn't have to change the tire out on the road in an emergency situation...unless you make a habit of carryng that t-post driver around with you all the time?

Those tire guys do torgue the lug nuts down nowadays.

I have never seen a valve stem come apart like that

If you put that 4way on a lug with the arms parallel to the ground you can stand on the left side and bounce and break the lug loose without a cheater.
