Securing a tower blind in rocky ground

I have a 12' tower blind that needs to be secured from blowing over.

I am thinking of taking a 55 gal drum and putting it under the stand and filling it with rocks and then guying the corners to the drum.

    Think that will be enough?

West Texas where the wind does blow

Don't think that will work your cables won't do any good that way.

      I think you need more.

The straps should go to the outside of the blind.

I dug holes 4 to 5 feet out and concreted in augers the used heavy straps.

Earth anchor screwed in the ground under the stand and cables run thru a turnbuckle attached to eye of earth anchor and cables going to all four corners. Use one continuous piece of 1/4 stainless cable. Never lost a blind doing this.

            Just saw rocky ground!!!!!!!!

I have seen blinds anchored like this before. Thats why I was thinking the drum full of rocks would be heavy enough

55 gallon drum, cut the top and filled with quikcrete (600-700lbs), eye bolt and add turnbuckle with cable. Works for us!

We've drilled holes in rock with a hammer drill and set anchor bolts before.

Instead of a turn buckle use a cumalong . We did this in menard in rocky ground. Use 4 steel drums . We filled them half with concerte the rest with rocks. We had a rebar eye anchored into the concrete

I was planning on and old tire rim in the bottom of barrel with the cable tied to it. Then filling with rocks that are on the lease

Do you have any mesquite trees you can tie off to? If not, I think your best bet is anchors drilled or use your 55 gal drum, but use 4...1 at each corner to tie off.

Did you place the drums out away from the blind?

Yes there are some mesquite and cedar around.

I have seen people just put the blind on top of a mesquite and tie to it
