View from a new Kansas stand - 2014'!!!

After my pronghorn hunt in Colorado I headed over to Kansas to re-set a stand and trim some shooting lanes as you can see from the pics. Talk about green in deep southcentral Kansas..........gonna be a banner year in ACORNS.......thus deer!!! I have one target their this year and he is a BOONER I saw at 77 yards last year with two does. (no that aint him in the pic.....that's my good friend Mike from Mulvane, Kansas doing his impersonation of a deer down in the creek.) With a lotta luck, heavy prayers and proper set-ups I believe it can happen!

Chop away some of those limbs

Bur Oak = Deer magnet. Forget the corn when they drop.

        Looks great!

Did plenty of chopping. I will let mother nature trim the rest when the leaves fall. YES, YES, YES..........I had probably 20 deer come in in two days on this same farm 5 years ago. They fall like rain and I will be there when the deer are!!!!

Three section ladder stand........so either 18 or 20 feet to the seat! I have 3 stands on this creek bottom and adding a pop up about 400 yards away next month. Yes, this is my 8th or 9th year in Caldwell.

I don't like heights at all but the terrain is really odd along this section of the creek. a 12 footer would be at eye level with the ridge behind me. Then again, in East Texas we would be at 26 feet in pines.....LOL.........willing to do whatever for this BOONER living there!

Well, those limbs in the bottom center of pic #1 make me nervous.
