Hey Greg you want to go get some greasy Las Palmas tacos after one of your runs? Good luck with the running. I am trying to lose some and get back in shape. Got 20 more pounds to go. Trying to get ready for the Texas Water Safari next year, and have a couple 5 and 10Ks in there too. Maybe a half marathon.

I used it to get started running in January. Great basic way to ease into running.

I have gained weight after I stopped running due to a knee injury. I mainly just lifted. Once I started running again it just hurt my shins. I need to lose weight so it is easier on my legs, but its hard to run being heavy. Awkward cycle. I started playing indoor soccer a couple of games a week. It has helped me greatly. Now I can run 2-4 miles and then go play indoor. Sometimes it just hurts but we all have to start somewhere. Glad is has worked out for you. I hope you continue to improve no matter what program you us. Good luck to ya!

I have several friends that have used C25K and have completed their first 5k and continue to run. I started running a year and a half ago and I used to despise running but after you get used to it...it gets in your blood! Keep at it and remember inch by inch it's a cinch. Stay with the program and follow it closely and you will be fine.

About 4 years ago I was 6' 1" 220lbs, couldn't walk fast without breathing heavy, was so out of shape. I started walking every day and then would jog about 200 yards until I got to jogging a mile a day. I got up to 2-3 1/2 miles a day. I ate better but did not limit myself, just smaller portions and did not stuff myself. I lost down to 186lbs in 2 1/2 months. I loved jogging until the pads of my feet swelled and hurt so bad I could hardly walk. I jogged on pavement up and down hills and it ruined the ball's (pads) of my feet. I miss the jogging and how I felt after a good run. Has anyone else had this issue with your feet and if so what did you do for it?

My deer season start got put off till next weekend. Instead, I ran my first 5K today. Not amazingly thrilled with my time but from not being able to run for more than a minute 7 weeks ago to being able to run today, I've got to say I'm satisfied. If any of you are still considering starting this program, I'm here to tell you it works. 30ish minutes a day, 3 days a week, and a pinch of determination. Nothin' to it!

The 13th Annual Woodforest Charity Run is on Saturday September 16, 2023. It includes the following events: 5K, 10K, and Barkley Shoe Dash.

That's awesome gwellstx!!!! Congrats and keep it up. My first 5k was in June of 2013 and ran a 33:13 5K. In three weeks I will run my first marathon in Kansas City.

What are your plans for running now?

I have a good friend that had the same thing happened. His was caused by three things. He started out running too fast, he had the wrong kind of shoes, and he was running on the toes of his feet.

He went to a foot doctor and learned how to do PT massage for his feet and then he learned how to run using a midfoot strike while running, and he had a professional running shoe fit. He runs just fine now.

I am an old guy and I don't run fast and I am a heel striker but I do love how I feel after a run that is 10 miles or less. When I run anything over 10 miles I still fell great about the run but I am sore the next day. I don't hurt just sore.

Thanks for the encouragement brother! I'm not sure where I'm going from here but definitely gonna keep it up. I'd like to get my pace down and more sustainable. Right now I'm all over the place like I get small bursts of energy. I think im going to start the bridge to 10k in a couple of weeks when I actually finish c25k (today would have been the start of week 8). I've read that the best way yo improve pace is to log more miles so that's the plan. I'd love to eventually tackle a Tough Mudder.

Tough Mudder is a piece of cake. You can do it! I've done one in Houston and one in Topeka, KS. It's a lot of fun!!! I'd encourage you to go ahead and sign up for one and use it as a goal. I did that back in February of 2013 and in October of 2013 I ran the Houston Tough Mudder. I will be looking forward to hearing of your success!

I did take prescription Phentermine for 3 months when I first started to jump start things but after that just diet and exercise. I still run anywhere from 2.5 to 4 miles 3 days a week.

That is outstanding man, way to go
