    Another Comical Primos Bad Shot

Watched a recent episode of the Primos Clan hunting Elk in Colorado. Cuz Jimmy shoots a fairly nice elk heavy quartering away in the right hip, then takes another follow-up shot to put him down. They then say "right behind the shoulder". Yea, right.

Why do these so-called hunters try to "pull the wool", so to speak. If you made a bad shot, say so.

    Rant over, carry on.

Like saying its snowing just North of Texas today. Anatomically it was right behind the shoulder.

Watched a show 2 days ago and a "ex spurt" shoots a big buck 6" in front of his left hind quarter. A absolutely perfect gut shot.
He and his camera man are in a ground blind and start giggling like little girls and commenting that it was "a perfect shot" and how "they heard him fall".

Yeah right maybe in the next county. It went to commercial. I turned it off and went outside.
      It is ridiculous!!

I have all but quit watching the hunting shows. They are mostly infomercials and the rest is whispering that nobody can clearly understand not to mention the bad shots and after dark recovery 2 days later. The green screen is much more entertaining.

Saw that episode too, it was insulting how they tried to pull that off. Can't remember which show it was but I do remember deleting it from my DVR season subscription.

Ol' Jimmy is a hack. Not sure why they continue to put him on their shows.

Personally, I love the Primos Elk Videos. I think most of their crew is brutally honest about marginal shots. Matter of fact I saw one the other day with....Kevin Meacham maybe as the shooter.

Yep, I couldn't agree more. Those Primos guys have got elk hunting down to a science. Yea, they hunt fabulous ranches, but they know how to get it done. Don't know if it's still the same, but in their earlier videos, the boys knew that if they took a bad shot angle, Will would be all over 'em about it... They would never take a quartering to shot. Will harped on that being a bad shot for archers all the time. Now a days, most of the shows are proud of such a shot.

Absolutely. They took a few of those early and Will put that to a stop. Recently, they have devoted large chunks of shows to talk about shot angle and bone density on elk.

I don't want to start THAT debate, but one thing I've noticed them struggling with the last couple of years is how to handle their new sponsor RAGE after not getting pass throughs.

I didn't see what shot you're talking about, but I've made shots on two separate animals that the person with me, once on elk and once on WT, stated that I "hit 'em in the guts". Elk was dead at 32 steps and WT dies within 50 yards. I did hit them both back a little, because they were quartered in a way that that was my path to the vitals. While I do think that even pros make a bad shot sometimes, and you should "own" those bad shots, sometimes if you hit pause and draw a straight line from the shooter through the vitals, deep is necessary. The camera angle doesn't always show what the shooter sees.

IMHO, TV hunting is making more people anti-bowhunting than PETA ever dreamed of.

I grew up watching the truth vhs tapes. Not saying jimmy made a good shot or a bad shot. But id rather watch them over anyone else. They know their stuff.
